schools in transition

Program for ecological, energetic and social transition in educational centers

What is a school in transition?

Schools in Transition is a program aimed at schools that are sensitive to the problems that affect both our ecosystems and the people who inhabit them, and that are committed to ecosocial and energy transition as tools for change, to promote more resilient and sustainable societies.

The program is developed through two complementary axes: one focused on agroecological and environmental projects and the other on the conscious and efficient use of energy resources.

Fight against climate change
Energy savings and efficiency
Resilient educational communities
Care for life and people
Eco-social education
Respect for nature and biodiversity

The program's methodology is based on project-based learning and the active participation of the entire educational community (teachers, students, service personnel, etc.), while improving and optimizing the facilities and infrastructure that the center makes available for the development of the activities.

SCHOOL ENERGY PATROLS

The School Energy Patrols project , based on the 50/50 methodology, aims to involve the entire educational community to ensure the conscious and responsible use of energy in the school.

We will work through workshops and follow-up sessions with the aim of promoting energy saving and efficiency and raising awareness of how our consumption habits are key to mitigating the consequences of climate change.

SOWING THE FUTURE

The Sembrando Futuro project proposes to transform underutilized spaces in the center and recover native species through the creation of school gardens and nurseries, both horticultural and forestry.

At the same time, we also organize plantings and visits to agro-ecological experiences in the region. The objective is to promote the care and knowledge of the natural environment, while working on the concepts of sovereignty, food justice and circular economy.

objective 3
Promote more comfortable spaces, in which energy savings and efficiency are encouraged.
objective 5
Promote savings and a conscious and responsible use of resources.
objective 2
Raise awareness about climate change and care for ecosystems, biodiversity and people.
energy literacy
To optimize the facilities and infrastructures of the centers, through energy efficiency and good consumption habits.
network
Generate a network of schools in transition that can replicate and share experiences.
Adapt educational methodologies to the challenges of the current multi-crisis context.
objective 1
Raise awareness about the consumption of local organic products and services.
target 8
Recovery and conservation of native species, through the school garden and reforestation.
target 6
Work on the concepts of food security and food sovereignty.
objective 7
To use schools as a meeting point to promote diversity, integration and reflection on social change.
target 9

Transversal knowledge

physics

Physics and chemistry

We will study the natural processes in the environment, how climate change originates and what are renewable energies.

gourds

Mathematics and technology

Calculations are essential for the design of the garden and the nursery. To study the energy expenditure we will use consumption meters.

biology

Biology

We will learn about native fauna and flora, ecology, environmental sciences, natural cycles, climate change.

agronomy

Agronomy

Training on techniques and cultivation models based on organic and agroecological agriculture.

traditional

Traditional uses

We will recover the traditional knowledge of the ancient uses of nature.

cooperation

Cooperation

Methodologies and learning can be shared with other schools and involve the neighborhood in what happens in the centers.

ethics

Ethics

Through this experience we will understand the social and environmental benefits of conscious and responsible consumption.

equality

Equality

Promote values so that all people can participate in the projects regardless of gender, religion, origin.
